if its a large well established clump then they will probably benefit from splitting in the autumn. they are hungry devils too.

My day lilies don't flower very well, either. Sometimes not at all. Apparently they are very hungry plants so they might need feeding. I also believe mine aren't in a sunny enough position, so that might be a factor.
