lots of my plums [victoria] are getting purple patches of rot and bubbles of glue like stuff .
What causes this and is there a cure.Regards Keith

Sounds like you have either Plum moth or a lot of wasp damage. Cut open an fruit and see if there is a worm inside. If there is then next season you need to control the moth. Use a pheromone trap to help decide when is the best time to spray against them.
The rot is on where the moth has emerged from the fruit.
