Front door plants

We would like advice on the type of plant to be placed in pots either side of our front door. the front of the house faces east.

Plant the pots in concrete if you live in some areas !

May I suggest that you try Buxus sempervirens "Latifolia Maculata."
The bright yellow young foliage gives some brightness on dull winter days. It also gives a doorway a bit of class (oomph)!
