How to get bees off our d
Fruit so we can pick it

Answers

If it's bees, 'bee' pleased - they're hugely down in numbers, especially in America. Are they perhaps looking for the sugars as a top-up because they're struggling to find nectar sources near you? Suggest attracting them away with another food source? Speak to local beekeepers. They must be able to assist/advise

If its wasps you could try leaving some jam jars with a bit of jam and some water in the bottom - sometimes the wasps will go in after the jam and drown. Do it a day or two before picking time.Be extremely careful picking in amongst wasps though as if they see you as an enemy they can dive straight at you - with an uncanny ability t go for any flesh they can see. They don't waster effort on clothing, so cover up well if yu have to brave them.

I just want to clarify something for our American cousins. jam jars are known as jelly glasses in the USA.

Even when the contents are clearly not jelly? And if so I wonder how they differentiate between jam and jelly? Ah well, each to his own.

I think our "jelly" is their "jello", Steragram!

Yes, you're quite right. Americans call Jam jelly and jelly jello. I stayed at an hotel once and an American guest asked the waitress at breakfast for some jelly to put on their toast. As you can imagine it caused some confusion.

On the other hand I did hear a story about some English people who were having a party, didn't have enough desert glasses for the Jelly she was making and asked her American neighbours could she borrow some jelly glasses as she had some special guests for dinner. LOL.

So don't they differentiate between jelly and jam as we know them? (talking preserves here)

As Winston Churchill once said, we are 2 nations divided by a common language, Derek.

But they don't call a traffic hold up a traffic jelly? And jelly beans don't contain jam. Very confusing ;o)

No, Steragram, I don't think they do. But they'd probably be confused that we don't differentiate between jelly as in wobbly jelly, and crab apple jelly as in the preserve!
