I've found some Dahlias called "Ken's Choice" which I would like to buy for my friend. If I send them in August will they be ok for planting next year? Her husband, Ken, died some years ago and I really want to buy them for her. Does anyone have experience of them?

you may find an ooutlet selling them in pots now. or give your friend a do it your self voucher explaining when they will get the plants. order on line and specify when you want delivery of them.

Thankyou again SBG. I'll think about it. I think I'll do more searching for a plant called Ken before I make a decision, but your suggestions are well made and doable.

if you were to buy now and its on line you will find one of 3 things.
1. they wont dispatch the tuber till late autumn/early spring
2 they will dispatch a growing plant
3 they will dispatch a tuber that should have been in growth so wont be particularly viable.
