recently needed to replace a couple of patches of lawn.
however, it's definitely the wrong time of year, as three days after i lay it down we get this heatwave - and now it's mainly brown.
is there any way to help it recover? or do i chalk this one up to experience?

If your replacement was in the form of turf, water, water water is the only thing that might work, but if you didn't do that when it first got hot, then it might be too late. Still worth a shot though. If it was seed, then just reseed later on, after the heat has gone.
