A gardening friend bought this 'bargain' from a local plant sale - 2 for 50p because they weren't labelled! She has given me one and asked me to find out what it is. Can someone help with an ID please?

Must be bay, you could tell but the scent from the leaves.

Thank you Andy, Lizziebee and Scotkat, I'm delighted that its a Bay, I'll pot it on and with a bit of luck I might eventually be able to shape it into a ball or cone shape.
