where does black spot come from & how do you get rid of it. It is on my beautiful clematis ?

Its caused by a fungus. the spores[seeds] are in the air and when they land on a plant they may get the opportunity to invade the plant. you can buy fungicides that will target the black spot.
when the plant drops its leaves in the autumn make sure you pick up all the leaves and either burn them or put them in your household rubbish bin. don't compost them as they will spread the spores.
