Hi Bilbo, actually I was undecided which would be best, blog or question, but as I'm asking for id, I settled on question, because if like me, I only see the blogs from the people I have as favourites, I very rarely venture onto the blogs page, I know I should visit it more often, but I prefer the questions page, Derek.

#2 is some species of Melocactus, and #3 is an Euphorbia horrida.

Hywel often pops up on here Derek, between him and Tugbrethil you'll soon be sorted, if you take a look at Hywels cactus blogs you'll probably find all of them amongst his collection.....
