hi have just relaid my garden lawn ....( knackered thank god for me mantis ) i have a small acer which i cut around .Ionce saw a lovely pic of long grass growing around the base of a small tree any nideas

There are several tall ornamental grasses you could plant to achieve the look you want (would need to water well to get established though).
But it will not stay like that, as which ever ornamental grass you choose will invade in to your lawn as it spreads outwards away from the tree.
