We have just taken a virginia creeper down as there were big areas that were rotten and are just left with the stump which is about 5" in diameter as it has been there nearly 50 years. Can anyone tell us how to get rid of the stump without us having to dig up the drive?

if it is dead then you could grind it out or saw it flush with the ground. Brush wood killer will encourage it to rot down.
