I still haven't even considered sowing spring onions (or anything else for that matter), while this terrible weather persists, so it's reassuring to hear your advice, Moon_grower.

When i used to grow grown onions from sets, I always started them off in the greenhouse about this time in 15 compartment cell trays before planting out. Get an earlier crop that way.

Other years I have always sown my seeds about the middle of march, even though they have to go on the windowsill, they are usually successful, but I cannot bring myself to start yet, the whole outdoors, just feels like a no-go area at the moment.
