Does it matter which kind of wisteria you grow - chinese or japanese?

I don't think so, as long as you get a grafted plant - if you don't, they can take many years to get to flowering, if at all.

Agree with Spritzhenry. I have one of both (grafted) and they grow the same. Only a year old, so little growth and no flowers.

In my experience, Chinese Wisteria is a little more tolerant of adverse weather--heat, cold, drought, rain, etc.--but has shorter flower spikes, and a shorter bloom season. On the other hand, they sometimes repeat bloom in late summer.

How do I say thanks?
