I have been given some Himalayan poppy seeds. Has anyone any hints for good germination?

I can't help you Stera but if my memory serves me right I'm sure Surreylad grows these from seed. Maybe send a PM

Thanks for the idea. I have PM'd him as you suggest. If he does grow them from seed it shows its worth a try anyway.

Let me know if you find out anything please...still have a fair amount of seeds to plant....don't want to waste them!

Cheers,

Greg

Right, I will PM Motinot (haven't heard from Surreylad yet)
Yes Greg I will let you know what happens.

Greg, Motinot told me www.gardenofeaden.blogspot.co.uk is the place to look for full info on germination. It looks as though they need ericaceous compost, which may be a bit of a problem as I'm just slightly the acid side of neutral, but we'll give it a go.
Many thanks to Greg for the seeds and Scottish and Motinot for the info.

Isn't being on the Acid side of neutral better Stera - you could always dig in some leaf mould or ericaceous compost when you plant them out.
They like a humus rich, moist area.
Bulbaholic would also advise, I'm sure but I think they are at a show this weekend - maybe he will see this next time they log on.
I'm going to try them in my garden again this year. I think perhaps I bought the type that flower then die last time! I will buy plants as I've no patience for seeds :)

Found this for you Stera.

I don't know how to tell you this. Full of all this information I went to get the seeds. And I couldn't find them anywhere - even emptied the kitchen waste bin.
I feel utterly gobsmacked that I could be so stupid as to actually lose them. Maybe they will turn up but I have looked everywhere I can think of. What a Wally eh?

That's a shame Stera - I'm sure they will turn up :)
