We cut our Summer fruiting ones which have grown too tall, back to just above the height of the top line in late Winter, but if they are being blown around then you can do it now. I cannot see them regrowing at this season.

Thankyou Bb and Owdboggy.

If these are summer fruiting, tie them in firmly to their stakes and wires and cut the tops off at the desired level if necessary. We tie ours in so they go horizontally along on about three levels. Make sure you keep the bed weeded and then you can start feeding in about March-April.

Have to quarrel with Bilbo for once, sorry. Cut the autumn ones down after fruiting is finished as they fruit on the current year's canes. But if you leave one or two they will produce some fruit a little earlier while you're waiting for the rest. But perhaps treatment is different further North?

So shall take all on board what you all say.

I used to have some of each in the same bed, and it got very confusing. The autumn fruiting ones were quite disappointing flavour and crop wise, so I dug those out. Summer ones seem to work much better for us, and my poor old brain can cope with just one lot of cutting back instructions.
