good idea to tear the bags. recently i have noticed that some brands have used a slow degrading bag.

All of my tea bags go through the shredder with the rest of my compost material. During the summer I was getting a turn around (from raw veg waste to compost) in about 4 weeks!

Some tea bags actually contain a small aount of plastic which is why some hang around after the rest of the matter is compost
