Is anyone out there growing Asian Pears? If so, do you know if they will grow successfully on heavy clay soil where ordinary pears fail? I'm just considering buying one, and a general web search said they like moist soil but can suffer from fire blight. But hearing someone's personal experience growing them is by far the best advice!

The only thing to do is buy one and try! Then I will let everyone on GOY know whether it flourishes or not.

Looks like you're out of luck, Bertiefox - I had a friend who I thought was growing one, spoke to her yesterday, she's not. Sorry.
