Dicksonia Antartica - Can anyone pls give info on the above trees in how to best maintain them and wat to and not to look out for what to and wat not to expect??

I have had two Dicksonias (tree ferns) for a few years now.The trunk is essentially the root system and the old fern fronds usually die off during a bad winter,What I do for the winter is to wrap the trunk in old sacking andprotect the crown by pushing a lot of straw or hay into the crown,as this is where the new fronds will appear next year.I put my ferns into the corner of my garden to protect them and keep my fingers crossed
