Dont really know Bb thought that but`s its a relatively new plant growing up trellis did your`s start of black Stjohn? I thought it was some form of mildew but some of the new leaves are also turning purple & they are quite small

have you asked at the place where you bought it from?or contact the RHS or something similar surely they would know?

Its not just windburn is it?

Could be for mine, Milky. Mine has been poor for a couple of years now.It is on a westerly facing fence so gets quite a bit of wind.

No problem Mookins lol i bought mine in garden centre was ok back in early july dont think it`s windburn Milky as my garden is sort of enclosed thanks for suggestions anyway,will soon no in a while if it starts to die of :~((

It's gonna die back anyway cos of winter - just re read your original question and you were having this trouble a while back - has the plant continued to grow since you first mentioned the problem? If so, I wouldn't worry too much - see if it does it again next year.

Yes still growing Bb but leaves got worse, will see how it does next year !!
