Gazanias love the sun and dry, free draining conditions Womble.....I wouldn't feed them myself but add sand and grit to the compost then a mulch of pea gravel on top. These were a favourite in my Spanish garden and would self set all over the gravel...they just love heat!

I wouldn't worry about them too much - they don't usually survive the winter here, Womble. Hopefully, you'll get a bit more growth and some flowers in what's left of the summer.

it would be nice to see some flowers. the one flower i do have is missing its petals. on a positive note i brought some seeds today with 75% off so they shall definitely be in my garden next year.

Here in the aegean, Gazanias are the mainstay of much of my planting. They thrive in sandy soil in full sun with little water. They can give the impression of beind dead with dry brown leaves. However the root may still be alive. I propogate gazanias by pulling a length of root; laying it in a long trench about 3ins deep. Cover it and leave it alone. Gazanias DO NOT LIKE WATER. Ours bloom throughout the winter and can survive the sometimes harsh winters that we have which include both frost and snow. I Love these plants for their variety of colour and their ability to survive most things taht are thrown at them
