as a novice gardener, do I deadhead Rudbeckia (aka black-eyed susan)?

given as seedling. Potted up straight away. Doing really well in large pot (staked) has produced lots of flowers (some have petals eaten - earwigs perhaps?). Wondering if dead-heading prolongs production. (I live in s.wales and garden faces south)

Yep it does as the plant flower has gone, therefore the following seeds have gone and so it produces more flowers to make more seeds! Bit cruel really! Just pinch or sut off down to the next leaf and should flower from there. or a bit lower if a new tiny bud is in the leaf axil
