The young leaves on my fatsia Japonica are curling and appear to being eaten

United Kingdom Gb

Have checked for pests but no obvious signs. Once new leaves have been attacked the younger leaves are then being eaten and take on a lace effect.

Sounds like slug and snail damage - try using slug pellets.

Thanks, Bamboo. Have been using slug pellets for some time as also suspected that was the problem but to no avail. If anything it is now worse!

There must be some kind of caterpillar on it then, probably the same colour as the leaves, that's the only other thing I can think of that causes this kind of damage.

Thank you Bamboo. Appreciate your time. Will investigate treatments.
