Why are my aubergines rotting?

This is the third year of trying to grow aubergines - I always seem to get so far and this happens - plants are looking very healthy and flower perfectly. Then the fruit just seems to rot at this very early stage. What am I doing wrong?

Are you hand pollinating them ?
I am also growing them for the first time and the fruits are just beginning to show on some of them.I They look healthy so far ,The ten plants I have are in large pots inside the greenhouse, but after reading on google about them,I am hand pollinating each flower as it opens, and hoping for the best.

I am not pollinating them at all - if they are setting fruit doesn't that mean they are OK. Mine are also in pots, but will go and try to tickle their flowers!! Thanks
