Are these hybrid nicotianas?

Buckinghamshire, United Kingdom Gb

Recently in Orgiva spain. Saw a tall plant in a sunny border which was like Nicotiana, flowers opened at night and were heavily scented. Colours were different though, white with magenta spatters, yellow with magenta spatters. Bicolour magenta and yellow and pink and white. Leaves were greener than our nicotiana though. Has anybody any ideas what these are and where I can get some as I would love to grow these. I have trawled the net with no sucess. Any info would be appreciated. thanks

Try a google image search on Mirabilis jalapa. The flower shape is slightly similar to some Nicotianas and they are called four o'clocks because they don't tend to open until late afternoon. Some of them are bicolored in a similar way to your description. They do have a scent although I haven't noticed them being heavily scented in this country.

Mirabilis is a bit of an invasive plant and when established will come up every where! unless you dead head it and pull runners up, but it is a lovely plant.
