A GARDENER'S SCRAPYARD

On a recent visit to Boulogne-Sur-Mer, we discovered that the car park in the central square of the old walled section has been turned into a novel garden in which old bangers have been “parked”, their roofs cut open and boot lids opened, to facilitate the planting of flowers, bushes and trees. A lovely, if unusual, environment to enjoy that lunchtime snack.

The entrance arch, partially obscured by Elaine, is decorated with van doors.

Car seats afford a little rest for visitors……

……and tables are made from steering wheels topped with plastic.

Another section across the street features a tractor…….

……bicycles – and a greenhouse built from broken windscreens.

On the way out of the city, they have even decorated a roundabout!

Fantastic, or should I say fantastique! I love the car part buried in paving - all very quirky, more typical of British humour, seems I might have under estimated the French;-))

Cor - my teenagers would finally like to visit this garden - they are mad on cars and I'm mad on gardens - not something that normally matches!!!

Some of the cars I've had in the past should have been planted before I bought them!

That is fantastic, so different. When I need a new car I`ll just put plants in my old one, it should brighten up the drive...lol! ;o)

I've just noticed that the car that's half buried in the paving is actually in better nick than mine...

I've had quite a few like that in my time Bamboo. If I'd kept them I'd have a wonderful garden now! :o))

Thanks Hilda. I am sorry that I missed your comment and am late responding. The garden has now changed and I will be preparing an update when I have the time.
