Blooming Vinca

Blooming Vinca (Vinca major (Greater Periwinkle))

From the hanging baskets, now that fall is in swing, the vinca has been blooming in the baskets. Very unexpected. I didn't think I would see any blooms on this at all. But here they are. ( Wish the phone camera hadn't been used so much this year)

I thought this was a ground cover plant???? I have one I might just trail on the fence....This looks lovely.

It is ground cover, but its spreading habit makes it perfect for hanging basket as well, especially greater vinca, with larger leaves. I wouldn't be surprised if you had great success running it up that fence. I love it for lower foliage with hanging begonia's, they can look a little spare alone.

Thanks, I will give it a try. Will post pic when it's up on the fence.

What else?

See who else is growing Vinca major (Greater Periwinkle).

See who else has plants in genus Vinca.
