Thankyou again Sixpence the flowers are a beautiful white.
Brian, the label says English Laurel. It grows to 3' 6" x 3' 6" in ten years, is very hardy. No preference to soil type and tolerates full sun to medium shade. Mass of upright white columns of flowers in late summer followed by black fruit. And best of all it was only £2.50. I have put a closer photo on of the flowers.
