Always am attracted to this weird looking plant, then re-remember how deadly it is, and back away. Interesting factoid from Wikipedia: "The United States Declaration of Independence was written in fermented pokeberry juice (hence the common name 'inkberry'). Many letters written home during the American Civil War..." were also, & the ink turned brown.

I love this berry also, but I can't seem to convince my hubby not to chop it down everytime he sees it! I had read that witchs would use the juice for ink also, to write in their book of shadows or to write out a spell.

Beats writing with blood. Prefer writing with this electronic light fandango, myself.
