Pandanus tectorius - Screw Pine, Pandanus

Pandanus tectorius - Screw Pine, Pandanus (Pandanus tectorius - Screw Pine, Pandanus)

This tree is labeled Pandanus baptistii, however, I don't think it is...it's too large and not variegated. Photo taken at the San Diego Zoo on Oct. 27, 2010.

Mushybanna:

Thanks! The photo is a little dark. The sun angle is changing and the days are getting shorter. Yuck!

My experience with Pandanus is limited, but I have sold them as house plants. P. baptistii was the only one I handled that didn't have spines on the leaves, and it was solid green--still don't really know if that batch was labeled correctly, though.

Tugbrethil:

I don't the genus well either. This one had large leaves with many spines along the leaf edges.
