Litchi chinensis - Lychee, Litche Tree

Litchi chinensis - Lychee, Litche Tree (Litchi chinensis - Lychee, Litche Tree)

This Lychee tree has flower spikes which should be blooming soon. Photo taken Feb. 11, 2011 at the San Diego Zoo. Lychee and Longan (Dimocarpus longan) fruits (which are related) are my favorite fruits...I can eat many pounds of them in summer (at one sitting). lol! :>)

It may not be available fresh there...but, it could be available in Asian markets, canned. The Lychee tree is native to southeast Asia.
