Iris foetidissima.

Iris foetidissima. (Iris foetidissima)

This is the Iris that produces the bright orange seedpods in the autumn. The flowers are nothing special.

These are unusual aren't they Spritz....I have a similar one but more of a gold bronze than lilac, not sure whether I like it or not Lol!

Sorry I forgot to label it properly - I have now! No, I agree. I only grow these for the winter interest, really. I have planted two of the yellow ones but they are still babies, I shall have to wait until next year to see the flowers.

I've posted a pic of the one in my garden Spritz...its the Citrina I think. I never knew they had the Autumn interest with the vivid seeds, I kept deadheading mine...Lol!

Oh - whoops! Now you know not to, Janey!

20 Jun, 2009

The flowers look fine to me Spritz.

Really??? Perhaps it's because I am a brilliant photographer... LOL.

It's more likely that you are abrilliant photogragher of lovely plants.

Come off it, Toto - if you saw this flower, you'd know it is a small and pallid version of an Iris!!! NOT an attractive colour in the least...

21 Jun, 2009

You must have cheated with the pic then.

21 Jun, 2009

DID NOT SO!!!!!

It does look better on the photo than on the plant, though!

I'll believe you when others may retain doubts.

22 Jun, 2009

That depends on whether they grow this plant, Toto!

22 Jun, 2009

I;m keeping mum Spritz...Lol!

22 Jun, 2009

Oh Janey, how could you let me down like that! :-( Now Toto will think I doctored the photo!

22 Jun, 2009

And I thought that you were a head teacher. Now it's out. You were a doctor.

22 Jun, 2009

He...he well yours is prettier than my cream and brown one! Lol

22 Jun, 2009

Oh no! Don't tell me I've bought two 'Citrinas' and I won't like them!

I shall dig them up and sell them next June! On second thoughts, I haven't seen the flower yet - except in a photo - so I'll be patient ...hehe- get it, Toto?

No, I really couldn't be a Doctor - no patients (I must stop these awful puns!)

22 Jun, 2009

I do a bit of brain surgery in the shed most weekends Spritz so if your ever in need!

23 Jun, 2009

Could well be after all that, Toto - I obviously had some sort of brainstorm... lol.
