Yes thanks Sixpence ... I can't wait for this one to mature and really spread out.

Bernieh:

It looks a lot like Iresine lendenii - Bloodleaf. Usually, Iresine herbestii has smaller leaves. There's so many varieties commonly available now.

Hi Andy ... well I'm no expert on Iresine as this is my very first one. I have been after one ever since I saw your photo ... when I bought this one the label said Iresine herbstii 'Blazin Rose' ... but I know the nurseries around here are not always spot on with their labelling!

Bernieh:

It looks identical to my Iresine lendenii. Even the flowers are the same. I have several posted pics of Iresine herstii varieties...they all seem to have much smaller leaves. I'll post some new pics of my plants tomorrow. I planted many new small cuttings around my yard last late summer...now they're pretty large.

OK, I'll be looking out for your photos.

Bernieh:

I just posted some photos of my many Iresine lindenii - Bloodleaf shrubs. : >)

Had a look, Andy ... and you're right ... they certainly look the same.

Bernieh:

Typically Iresine lindenii is fuller and makes more of a mounding shrub to 6 feet/ 2 meters tall in a couple of years. Iresine herbestii is typically more upright and slender in growth.
