Hesperis matronalis Alba (sweet rocket)

Hesperis matronalis Alba (sweet rocket) (Hesperis matronalis Alba)

For my records.
Planted in spring to fill some gaps - oops border too full now! Will wait until the allium and poppies stop flowering and have a wee re jig of this border. Are these Hesperis short lived perennials and better suited to growing as an annual?

I have them growing outside the garden, Scottish. They were planted deliberately in nineteen oatcake...
...and still going strong...
They've been blooming for about 6 weeks now. :)

What a lovely serene area. I love your pink poppy. My pink one is yet to show although the red ones are starting to bloom now.

Thanks everyone -
Pleased you like it Lil :)
Thanks Karen - I'll keep them then :)
Hope your poppies bloom soon for you Sheila - I hope they wait til the rain is over though - I hate how the rain always spoils the poppy flowers!

Forgot to say I bought the hesperis matronis as a phlox in either Lidl or Aldi a long time ago. On their own in the narrow border they would have been fine if they were phlox but to be honest I was not overawed by the small flowers although they are scented. Having seen them growing in among other plants they are a great filler and don't seem to spread too much. If you allow them to seed they will produce new plants so if you don't want that dead head them before the seeds are ripe.

Thanks Sheila....I'm quite good a dead heading when it suits me.
Now they bigger - I agree with you that on their own they would not look very good but are doing a good job of filling the gaps.
