The first year that I've grown this, and it's my new favourite thing!
A week behind Sues' but mine has now bloomed!!

You can always add a piece of black board chalk when planting I have read that.

I didn't know that.....
I'll be buying more and trying different spots. The other thing that I've discovered is that they dislike being disturbed.

Bit like Peony s then they don't like being disturbed either. I only found out about the chalk off the net the lady that grows them in her garden and sells them on ebay

I agree with the feeling of satisfaction - seven years from seed and I think that my Bird of Paradise is about to put out its' first flower spike!!
