Erythrina Crista Galli (Erythrina crista-galli (Cocks Comb))

Not sure if I'll ever get this to a flowering stage, but I just love the shape of it.

Theses are lovely shrubs. I do hope you get flowers on them. :-) Some take 5 years as a minimum, to mature.

Thanks for looking & for the encouragement Greenthumb.
I'm just pleased it survived the red spider mite attack last year. I had to cut it right back to the base.

I am glad they came through that! Should recover quickly already doing this well. :-)

Meanie:

Eythrina crista-galli grows to be a large tree eventually with a thick trunk. It grows quickly and blooms pretty easily. You'll have no problem getting it to bloom as long as it's kept on the dry side and given a lot of sun and heat.

There's a 25 foot/ 7.6 meters tall tree around the corner from my house.

Thanks guys.
Any chance of a photo Delonix? I do worry about enough sun (this is the UK)! I bought it as much for the foliage as for the blooms anyway.

Meanie:

I'll get a photo soon. The tree was cut back heavily for first time I've seen in 6 1/2 years. It usually has flower on it in March...however, I haven't seen any this year so far. I'm sure it'll bloom soon though because it a spring - fall bloomer. Many Erythrina species are winter bloomers.

If you get a chance check out some of my other Erythrina photos. There's many species which grow here. Erythrina falcata - Brazilian Coral tree is my favorite...which started blooming in March. I have many photos on GoY.
