Not a palm! (Cycas circinalis (Fern Palm))

Cycas circinalis, the Queen Sago. It's also one of the best cycads to grow indoors- with lots of light and room. Mine here is in flush with this years new leaves. Last year? It also flushed this time of year only we had a heatwave of over 100f something that burned the soft tender leaves. I had to look at them slightly burned the whole year once they hardened. This year,no problems with high temps only in the 70's.

Stan,

It looks terrific! It grows faster than Cycas revoluta, right?

It makes a trunk faster. Last year btw,it flushed this time only we had a 100f plus heatwave that burned the soft leaves. I had to look at that all year. This year just 70's so they are looking normal.

That’s good news.

You must have nearly died in those temperatures. It gets to 80° here, and along with the humidity I hibernate. What I am finding is that summer is coming later and extending into the fall, but the temperatures are not going crazy. I have been wary of growing the cycads and palms from seed, which is the only way I could get one of these.

Wylie,It was like laser beams September last year!..this year has been very tepid, few heatwaves and those we did have were very short lived and stayed well below 100f. 70's day in and day out this spring to fall have been the rule.

I saw the forecast for you is going to be 90’s the next few days.

It’s going to be hot here 90’s through Sunday, starting tomorrow (Wednesday).

Luckily, its farther along this year. I also watered the heck out of it yesterday.
Can't remember the last time it was 90's this summer. I took photos of the Mango's. The daughter in law loves them green and clumps of mango green fruit are now just doubles or triples-lol. As long as everybody enjoys them. I did put dibs on the two larger ones high up.

I saw it was 90 degrees there the last few days. You’re finally getting the heat. It’s been a very mild summer and fall, so far. It’s been in the 90’s here the last three days and today.

That’s amazing you have a lot of mangoes! You need your share of mangoes, since you’re growing them. 😂
I would claim them all! 😂
