Cannonball Tree grows to be a monstrous tree. This tree is the smaller tree located in Foster's Botanical Garden in Honolulu, HI had many flowers and the Cannnoball Pods. Photo taken August 4, 2009

Yes, the cannonball tree grows its pods on the sides of the trunk like Jack Fruit...however, it is a very different tree. Cannonball tree grows much larger. : > )

They are mostly grown in tropical botanical gardens because of their massive size.

No, they are not edible! They have seeds and an ill-smelling pulp.

Have you ever seen one growing where you live? I know they are quite tropical in nature...however, I'm not sure what their cool-tolerance is...I would assume they need pretty constant heat.

This is the small tree at Foster's Botanical Garden...the large one is around 75ft/25m tall. I think it was planted in the 1880's.
