i was going to say delicate little thing but its quite a tough survivor!! even if it is an extremely mild winter, there are apples still on trees here ~ masses of them in some cases.

I am pleased to see flowers forming sort of as this is what I may have to look forward to..........

ooooooooooh what a beauty!! now thats worth getting excited about.

29 Dec, 2011

That's why I would rather wait until it's time than risk a cold spell screwing everything up!

29 Dec, 2011

OOOOhhh that is going to be something else when it blooms!!!

29 Dec, 2011

lots of fleece???

29 Dec, 2011

The red form is budding up too Alex! Here is a photo of one in bloom........

They should be ok as long as we see nothing worse than we've seen already Sticki...............

29 Dec, 2011

that red is spectacular!! like chillies!!!

but if it does get worse????

29 Dec, 2011

Getting chilly, windy and wet out there.
I hope those buds don't suffer !

29 Dec, 2011

They'll be under cover Sticki!
Lowest nightime temp predicted around here is 4°c Terra..........

29 Dec, 2011

That's reassuring :o)

29 Dec, 2011

would hate you to lose that!!

29 Dec, 2011

Me too - I only paid three quid each for these and they stood two metres tall! Reduced from nearly twenty quid each!

29 Dec, 2011

weird flowering, hellebores doing the same thing here....just waiting for a daff and a crocus!

29 Dec, 2011

Isn't that what's weird Lulu - a Daff or a Crocus would not be such a surprise............

29 Dec, 2011

£3 for something 2 metres tall?? i think thats a better bargain than mine!!

29 Dec, 2011

Yeah well, the white one lost a metre unfortunately as I struggled getting my haul to the tills before anyone else nabbed them! Paid for them, then asked the girl on the till to look after them so that I could go back to grab the other bargains that I'd hidden!

29 Dec, 2011

you are a seasoned bargain hunter i can see!!!

29 Dec, 2011

Got them from "very expensive garden centre" - went in for a look as I was passing and couldn't believe my luck!

29 Dec, 2011

i was wondering where you got them from but i did think its no good me going there ~ meanie will have got there first!!!

29 Dec, 2011

The prices they charge they can afford to flog a few off cheap!

29 Dec, 2011

they ought to run an event called plant [bargain] hunter ~ great spectator sport!!?? and the winner would of course get all he/she could manage to get to the tills in [nearly] one piece???

29 Dec, 2011

It's a plan...........

30 Dec, 2011

I wonder who the winner would be?

Can you fix it for london 2012??

30 Dec, 2011

I want nothing to do with London 2012!

30 Dec, 2011

Meanie:

It's looking good! It's probably not too uncommon for it to bloom in winter, right?

I wish I could go to London for the New Year 2012!

31 Dec, 2011

My first year with them Delonix, but it should bloom late spring/early summer here...........

31 Dec, 2011

Meanie:

Wow...that late?! It blooms all year here, of course. Just bragging a little bit. lol! :>)

2 Jan, 2012

Enough!!!!!

2 Jan, 2012

Can't take my bragging? LOL!!!! :>) (I have to give you a little bit of a bad time).

4 Jan, 2012

I don't mind.............

Probably got one over on you with this...............

Looks as if they'll be out in a couple of weeks.

4 Jan, 2012

These grow here, too...just mostly in northern California.

5 Jan, 2012

But not SoCal!!!!!

5 Jan, 2012

Meanie:

Yes, they can grow in SoCal!

Remember: all of California is full of micro-climates.

5 Jan, 2012

I'll see if it sets seeds then - would look good in the sun!
