Beautiful tree! It looks very healthy.

Randy, there's three little trees on the curb strip in front of this tree. The seedlings are from seeds from this tree.

I posted on the trees on PalmTalk.

28 Sep, 2012

These flower profusely over here in May when its hot and dry. They are common here.

Mochiseki:

This tree will usually bloom in July here in southern California (May is definitely too cool here for this tree to bloom). We've had very hot weather here, lately.

Delightful....

29 Sep, 2012

Andy, I actually saw the PalmTalk photos firsts. In what part of San Diego is the tree growing?

Ready for the predicted extreme heat next week?

29 Sep, 2012

Dottydaisy2:

Thanks! Yes, it's a beautiful flowering tree.

30 Sep, 2012

Randy,

You'll have to call me. I'll let you know where it is. I also have a dwarf Heliconia for you.

No, I don't want any more extreme heat! We've had too much this summer as it is! However, I did prepare most of my plants in shade. I have a feeling the heat wave is going to be worse than they're predicting. The weather people say the high pressure keeps getting stronger! :>(

Its a beauty the flowers look the aame as the Lanurnum stange how this is nt poison like the Laburum.

16 May, 2017

Thanks. :>))

It's a very different tree than your Laburnum there. It's in the genus: Cassia, not Laburnum. Its common name is Indian Laburnum or Golden Shower tree.

16 May, 2017

Thank you for explaining that for me also for the other name is goes by.

16 May, 2017

You're welcome. :>))

17 May, 2017

?

17 May, 2017

Yes I thought it was this I had seen before its a beauty is nt it.

Unfortunately, this tree is dead. I believe it was due to the severe drought. This tree is pretty drought tolerant; however, the last drought killed so many trees here in San Diego. :>(( Her babies planted in the curb strip survive, though. Yay! :>))

2 Apr, 2018

Ahrr that's such a shame but great the seedling babies are growing mother nature at its best.?

3 Apr, 2018

It is. I'm so happy they survived the horrible, horrible six year drought!

4 Apr, 2018

A very long drought you had over there then. Yes its great the seedlings survived.

4 Apr, 2018

It was California's worst recorded drought. Sometimes drought just affect some sections of California. This one affected the whole state for a long time. Millions of trees are still dying throughout the state.

Unfortunately, we have had only 3.18 inches (80 mm) of rain this season. This is only a third of what we should be at this time of year. March is pretty much the end of the rainy season here in San Diego.

5 Apr, 2018

How odd it some times affects some parts of California but then considering its size its understandable will they replace all the trees that are still dying Andy?

Its amazing how any thing survives out there including humans with such little rainfall. Perhaps you ll get the rain later as we have nt seen a spring here yet and it April some parts here are still getting snow. They keep mentioning the poles flipping which I find is hard to believe imo as back in history the tip of Scotland in the north of Britain once sat on the tip of the line south of the equator line which made Britain south not north of the equator where it is at present.

Also geologist have discovered recently the geological land pattern of rock etc from Somerset right across matches exactly with Normandy in France which would make that Britain was further south than it presently is.

The trees are in many forested areas of the mountains of California. It will take several generations to replant so many trees. Yes, the trees are still dying. Although, the northern part of the state has had a lot of rain the last couple of weeks. We just haven't had any here in San Diego and it's been very hot here. It's been in the mid-to-upper 90's (mid-to-upper 30's Celsius) the last couple of days here.

It's very rare to receive any rain after March here in San Diego...however, one never knows, as the weather has been very abnormal the last several years here.

11 Apr, 2018

Thats awfull so many have died yes a forest would take many years to replace so many.
Going by our weather here its possible you might get rain later its been pouring it down here my son s garden is flooded and I noticed yesterday as he took me past farm land near a village where my sister lives the field s were flooded too perhaps we are pinching all your rain lol.

I know some here would envy your heat and weather at present with the cold and horrid dull weather we ve had it feels it will never end but it is April April showers . I have a feeling we will be getting a hot summer here to as it thundered in winter here as the saying goes a winters thunder is a summers wonder.

My white Camelia has started to flower loads of buds it might be killed when I have it dug out as its right next to my house.

I hope you do get your warm summer. I have a feeling it's going to be a very hot summer here in inland San Diego. UGH! LOL! :>))

17 Apr, 2018

So do we Andy some think its the poles switching 6 months dark 6 months light but in October last year it was warm up until November which is unusual . I think we will have a good summer as it thundered twice in Winter months and the old saying goes a winters thunder is a summers wonder.

I hope it is nt to hot for you but it will be great for your Desert Rose?

17 Apr, 2018

Yes, I hope it's not too hot this summer. :>))
If it is hot, it will be good for a lot of plants, as long as they can receive enough water.

18 Apr, 2018

Lets hope then you get some rain before your summer comes that would be great if it did rain.

18 Apr, 2018

Penny,

Unfortunately, it's not too likely we'll receive any more rain. Maybe a few little showers, possibly. They're saying on the news we may get a few drops tomorrow. Let hope for more than a few drops. lol! :>))

18 Apr, 2018

That would be a shame but good to hear your getting showers lets hope it pours down lol.

19 Apr, 2018

Yes, I hope it does pour down! Even if it's for only 5 minutes I would like the rain. :>)

19 Apr, 2018

Yes you can get a lot of rain even in 5 minutes . I would hate to live where it hardly ever rains it clears the air and you can smell the sweet aroma from the plants.

19 Apr, 2018

Yes, I do miss the rain. :>(( We are getting some rain showers as I write this comment. YAY!!! It's not much; however, ever little bit helps. When I lived up in the SF Bay Area it rained a lot more than here. Although, there were years of severe drought even up in northern California.

19 Apr, 2018

Thats wonderful Andy collect ever drop lol. Strange how up North in California they get drought too you would think they got plenty of rain being northwards. I recall years ago watching the old footage over there about the dust bowl its on you tube now to also rare old footage of New York ..

19 Apr, 2018

The dust bowl was in the central part of the U.S. However, in California we do sometimes feel like we're in a dust bowl!

All of California is subject to droughts...the extreme northern part of the state not so much, though. The San Francisco Bay Area is actually located in the central part of the state...and is subject to very horrible droughts, also.

20 Apr, 2018

Yes it lasted quite a few years did nt it just makes you winder this climate change is it rubbish or a natural process.

Must be why so many Brits want to go there not to see rain lol.
I am surprised San Francisco has such terrible droughts.

20 Apr, 2018

There's definitely climate change. There's a report of how hot it's suppose to get in the three major metropolitan areas (San Francisco Bay Area, Los Angeles Area and San Diego Area) in California by 2050. It's quite disturbing.

California is the place to be for not much rain.

25 Apr, 2018

I know by a scientist forum where they chat they say warming is caused by them taking oil out of the earth as oil suppresses the heat escaping from the centre of the earth taking the oil out is what causes the oceans to warm .

So soon we will be having mass imigration all you coming here for our rain lol

25 Apr, 2018

Where can I find this in San Diego looking for affordable tree ty
