Artocarpus heterophyllus - Jackfruit

Artocarpus heterophyllus - Jackfruit (Artocarpus heterophyllus - Jackfruit)

Jackfruit trees are not very common in San Diego...however, I've read they grow here pretty well and fruit...even though I've never seen one in fruit. The fruits are the largest in the plant kingdom and weight up to 65 pounds (30 kilograms)

This is a young tree and it is difficult to see because of all the other plants around.

Yes, Jackfruits are much larger fruit than durian. I love durian fruit, however, I don't think it can be grown in San Diego as far as I know. ( I don't like making definitive statements because then I'm usually proven wrong)

I used to think that of the ultra-tropical Syzygium samarangense - Wax Jambu and now I have seen many bearing trees. My friend brings me huge bags full of fruit from his friend's large trees.
