DOnt show many pics of the front garden. I dont bother baout it as much as the back. But there quite a few nice plants there. THe middle bit which has a tiny fance round it has thousands of wild flower seeds in it. THrown in last year and this year, the only thing I get coming up is big marigolds and lupins and a few daisies..oh and had one poppy last year!

New wee area I made yesterday..had some old bricks so extended the wee front bit out a little.

Front area which was already there.

Found this wee gem..I thought it was snowdrops from Dad’s garden but this came up..anyone know what it is?

Ceanothus

RIght side showing peony rose..funny this one doesnt have a scen but the one I brought from Dad’s has!

Left side sowing the beautiful Japanese Maple which was given to me about 25 yrs ago by my uncle. Unfortunately I have to cut it back at the fence side or nobody would get in! Shame but I cant move it now

Middle bit full of Wild Marigolds? and lluins not flowering yet

And the sage bush which was at the back, never flowered last year but you can see lots of buds this year. Good for making tea I;ve been told

Front gardens are all about the neighbours tho', don't you think? It's round where it's private that you make your lovely space...

Having said that, those Ceanothus and Japanese maple are truly magnificent, hen!!!! :))))

wow pixi, that acer, ceanothis and the peonie, all beautiful!!

28 May, 2012

That ceanothus is beautiful and you have some other great plants there, too. Like your new wee border.
I really dislike working out the front where there's no privacy. There's been a discussion on here about that and it seems lots of folk feel exactly the same.

Lovely Pixi - I hate going on my front garden - hate people watching me . yours is lovely Pixi and what a ceanothus!!!!

28 May, 2012

I, too, am not keen on doing the front - you feel everyone's watching you (especially if you're taking photos!!!)

I agree with Sheilar and everyone else who doesn't like gardening in the front and also feel that everyone's watching. When I have to do the front garden, I try and finish it as soon as possible so I can go and enjoy myself in the back garden. I also try and get out the front as early in the day as possible in the hope that no-one will be about, but it seems they possibly have the same idea!

'If' I had a front garden i wouldn't be embarrassed to work in it or take pics, my container garden is out front but its usually the dogs watching me

28 May, 2012

i live on a busy road and im not keen on two of the neighbours, thats another reason to not like being in the front garden!!

i dont mind dogs or cats watching though!!!

I got caught today in my very private wee back garden. Having wandered out early in my pjs to see what was doing, a voice from above - i.e. a painter high up a ladder doing the roofline next door - said 'I like your garden'. I was too taken aback to even say thankyou and just scurried inside. Poor man, he was just being friendly.

sorry oji that made me laugh!!!

28 May, 2012

My front garden is mainly a carpark, it has two cars one caravan, a trailer and three wheelie bins, there are only two narrow borders and my pots and baskets to care for, I spent last Friday morning out there cutting the hedge and tidying the borders, luckily nobody was about as I also get cross if people stop me getting the hedge sorted, thats the only gardening job I dislike, our house has the kitchen, hallway, bathroom, stairs and landing at the front so both dining room and sitting room look out onto my pride and joy, my garden, its the way we like it....
Nice pics Pixi....

Gorgeous Acer and Ceanothus Pixi....lots of other wee treasures too :) I don't like gardening in the front much either. Got it all done on Sunday morning before 10! I usually stick things in the borders round the front when I don't know what to do with them - all a bit mish mash in my front garden. I always go out in pjs when I get up - couldn't care who sees me either, except drama queen neighbour thinks it's disgusting!!!! She's a strange one!!! She asked me the other day if I could stop one of the cats looking out the upstairs hall window as she feels he is stalking her!

28 May, 2012

sorry scottish that made me laugh!! i take it your neighbour hasnt got cats!!!

my OH is retiring and will be doing a part time job therefore he will have more free time, he has decided he would like to do some gardening [he doesnt know a weed from a flower] so he is going to do the front garden and i shall do the back!! [ he wont mind being out the front at all]

Your unknown white flower is Ornithogalum. It's very pretty. I used to have lots of them in the previous garden
And I think your Ceanothus is beautiful :o)

I enjoy my front garden because I can have a chat to passers by. They love to see my plants. .... Well I like to be sociable, and not hide myself away all the time. I've swapped many cuttings with people in the front :o)
And I feel the front garden welcomes people to my home :o)
