After looking at Hywel’s blog on her cacti I had to share this with you, by the way Hywel I thought your cacti were amazing!
This cactus is in my Dad’s porch.
My Mum bought it yearsssssssssss ago and she always complained that it never flowered.
The day she died (17yrs ago) a beautiful flower came out and now 2 weeks ago on the anniversary of her death it flowered again.
We were amazed to see it!
My Dad has been very ill this past few months and he said “Its your Mum, she’s still around, looking after me now” Aw bless him.
I would like to think that is true.
Anyway I thought I would share this beautiful flower with you.
By the way Hywel, maybe you could enlighten me as to which cactus it is, I have no idea about them. :)

That is one spectacular bloom, Pixi :) It's hard for us to see parents decline in health....your dad is wished a lovely day on his 89th birthday.

It's an Epiphyllum, but I don't know the species. There are so many types of Epiphyllums.
It's beautiful, and how wonderful that it flowered on that particular day.
I often think things are more than just coincidences ....
By the way I am a 'he' lol :o)

Mr Hywel, that's made me laugh big time! We all know what to give Mr H for his birthday....a cactus!
One year I made a Cactus bowl for my stepfather...he managed to never water them and they all went to Cactus heaven!

Aw lol! Well Dad never watered the plants in the porch much and as I've been going up every weekend now, I;ve been watering and talking to them so maybe that's why it flowered? Who knows lol

I talk to mine the whole time and the dogs!! I am surprised sometimes when they don't talk back!

Was it just a coincidence they flowered on the particular days? I would love to believe more than that.Wish your dad a good health Pixi.

Thanks for your good wishes Camilla..he was 89 last week and we had a BBQ for him, he is such a good, kind and lovely man, I am lucky to have him for a Dad. :)
