South African bulb with scarlet flowers on stems up to twelve inches for well-drained soil in full sun. Not really hardy but you might get away with it in a sheltered spot sheltered from the wet in a mild winter

I was just wondering as I bought a few years ago a swamp lily that floweres all at the top of the stem like this , but alas has not flowered as yet, I have 2 now in the pot it seems to have doubled but not flowered.

If your swamp lily is a Crinum, maybe Crinum americanum with white string flowers, that also is in the Amaryllidaceae family. They like some moisture & humidity. Feed occasionally!
Great picture, Andrew! Doesn't look at all like the screaming scarlet in San Marcos Growers clump. PacificBulbSociety.org has some nice images of different varieties. Thanks for bringing this to my attention: it might be evergreen here in Oregon.
