This is another woodpecker that I get excited about. It's very rare, and I havn't seen one in several years, although I heard of quite a few sightings in Ohio last year.

I haven't seen one of these in Years...and I'm in eastern Ontario. Good on you both!...have seen pileated, and sapsuckers, but it has been eons since sighting a redhead.

They are in the woods here in southern Ontario as I frequently see one while birding in spring, but are not plentiful. I actually had one, only once that I saw, visit my peanut feeder, and it was a shock. I have a regular visit from both male and female red bellied woodpeckers, so they must nest in the area. I wish these guys would!
