Teasel Flower head

Teasel Flower head

Great..... I've been waitng for this moment ever since I sowed the seeds in the spring last year. They are just starting to colour up. hopefully, in a few months the seeds will bring the birds(particularly finches) in to my garden.

Wonderful Paul. Its the first time I've set them this year so I hope mine look like yours last year. Have they been in the same site since last year?

Yes, Dawsaunt, I grew them from seed in pots and then planted them out last late summer/autumn!

Thanks Paul. So did they just die down and come up again? So are they like perennials?

2 Jul, 2009

No, I think strictly speaking they are biennials! so should die at the end of this year but will, hopefully self seed. I don't know if they do, sometimes carry on for a nother year like perrenials! I f you look on my blog back in Feb/March time you'll see a photo with them in their winter state. They didn't die back just stayed small as they had been when I planted them out. incredible to think they've grown 7 ft or more in those few months!

Amazing stuff Paul .... I'll visit your blog. You live in sunny Essex though dont you, with Milky .... well not actually in the same house, lol. It may be different here, I get frosts when no-one else does. Live in a frost pocket :-(

No it's not the same house as Milky. We probably wouldn't have enough room in one garden for all the plants!!!! But Essex, yes! Very mild generally, and dry. But, where I live on a corner near the bottom of a hill, we get terrbly strong winds whipping around the garden ehich is not good for tall plants!

Looks like you'll have to protect those teasels then Paul.
I looked at your blog you did in early Spring, sorry but can you identify the teasel.

Yes, they are the very small plants that look like a weed! In the photo with Eremerus shoots and logs. Blog of 3rd or 4th March. I think it's entitled. Ne wshoots, Seeds and Bulbs, i love this time of year.or something like that!

I've just checked, it's the 3rd photo down and the plant right at the front then there are two others(one either side of the log)

Hi Paul, yes I found your lovely blog. I saw the pic with the log - love this area! but just wondered which plant it was in relation to the log.
