Luna Moth Antenna

Luna Moth Antenna

Close up of a male Luna moth's antenna. The male has much larger antennae than females because it's the antennae that detect pheromones emitted by females. The female is said to "call in" a male with her pheromones. The male can "smell" these pheromones from miles away.

Truly amazing shot! The antennae are just like copper ferns.
