Gatalpa Tree Flowers

These are lovely.

Did you grow this from a pod, Mike, or did you get it as a small tree? There is one down the street, & I would like to try growing it from the seed pod.

The tree came up on it's own Grammazoo. At first I didn't know what it was so I let it grow. I'm amazed on how fast it has grown. I was looking at pictures of the back garden in 2006 and at that time it was only 3 feet tall. It's well over 12 feet now. I understand that they are easy to grow from seed. There are three of these trees two houses away from me and they are huge so I'm thinking that a squirrel carried the seed to my yard. It chose the perfect spot to grow in my back garden so it's there to stay.

Thanks Mike. I'll have to try growing one - maybe indoors to start it off. I'll try to get a seed pod this fall - might not work, but it is worth a shot I guess!

Love the blooms on these ! I purchased one though the mail this spring that has chartruese foliage. I got tired of waiting for the local nurseries to get some in stock. Sure hope mine grows as fast as yours !
