Love poppies but wish they lasted longer have orange, red and pink ones, love the way they pop their cases and just unfold their beautiful colours

magical...i too have papaver (red, pink, purple) flowering twice this year ;) An orange poppy i dont have *is it papaver ? if so ive got to get one or two ~ if yours are like mine before july their gone, then i wait until the pods have turned brown, then snip off the pods(jst 1 or 2) & assuming the seeds are a nice dark colour i sprinkle them IN & AROUND the existing plant~ assuming this can be done before the end of july by the middle to late august(weather permitting) i do get new blooms but sometimes i dont, instead i get a bigger plant the next year.CURRENTLY i have a pink papaver that blooms up to 25 at any one time......Ive heard the experts say the seeds are unfertilized, in my exsperience that only appies to the first year of planting, 2nd year blooms usually are fertilized & i never cut back the foliage, only the flower stems, i let the foliage die naturally. ;))
