Wow, strange one, can you grow this outside?

26 May, 2009

They prefer to be outside, sunny and a bit cool/breezy, sitting in a tray of water, or in the ground, can be fed like tomatoes, need to go into conservatory for winter, but can be pruned back if size is an issue and respond well to pruning. Is my first attempt so just going on what other people say, but do grow fast outside and are very thirsty.

Hi, just seen your Vanda photo, & decided to check your photos out.
This looks like Datura 'Blackcurrant Swirl' (check my pics out). I've been pretty succesful with Daturas over the years, but I'll definately give your tip about tomatoe feed a go. Thanks!

Got root rot and died unfortunately...

I've been quite successful with Daturas over the years. I allow mine to almost dry out to the point of wilting before giving them a good stiff drink.
Give the white ones a go. Mettel is readily available in seed form from most garden centres.

I have about 8 angel trumpets 5 ft tall ones in my unheated conservatory, seem to be surviving the winter...
