I like these too, if only because they're blooming so nicely after less than a year in the ground. We purchased five small varieties late last summer, and three of them are in bloom or about to.
Irises no longer intimidate me - they're lovely and deserve all the space they take up. We're definitely going to try planting some tall varieties later this year.

Have just realised that irises are such an asset to the garden in spring and there are so many varieties. This one is really lovely.
